"Shabonee Shabonee
On our adventures across the sea"
- Emma Gilbert, Shabonee crew, Summer 2010
Our adventure started in Majorca fair
We met up and boarded Shabonee there
3 gals 3 guys, one of them sick
Victoria Bernie Emma - Neil Mark Nick
Chilli con carne our grub from Neil
Was not 'alf bad for our first boat meal
Safety is of prime concern
Debriefing and night time life jackets
worn
We chugged all night with motor power
Treated to the end of a meteor shower
With not much sleep cause of rocking and
noise
Especially for our drivers-the Collins
boys
By dawn Formentera we
could see
Our wake up call with coffee and tea
Blue skies, turquoise water as one would
wish
Unfortunately plagued with jelly
fish
After snorkelling and lunch (on the boat
there's no diet)
The sails went up, our voyage lovely and
quiet
Arrived in Cala Saona - Mark's favourite
bay
Unfortunately many others felt the same
way
We tucked in a space among the million
dollar yachts
Core blimey! How much money they gots?
The water's coloured just like a swimming
pool
With bright sunshine and good company it's
all too cool
Dinner on land-calamari and sun set view
The lemon sorbet vodka Vic she had a few
Stripping off she swam away into the dark
With Neil and dingy disappeared this
worried Mark
Luckily she made it ,we all got back quite
quick
Next day hangover suffered and she was
quite sick
A whole day of doing nothing -goodness
what to do?
The whole boat seems to be reading-The
Girl with Dragon Tattoo
Enforced relaxation really isn't that bad
Alcohol consumption from lunch time stops
you going too mad
Joint effort on tortillas was good-it must
be said
Skinny dip and laughing done before twas time for
bed
The sewage tank was getting full to over
flow
A stinky moment in crossing -to Talamanca
we go
Ibiza town was calling -moored at Bota
Foch
The decks got scrubbed the girls headed to
shower block
Tapas at La Botega was a yummy port of call
While walking round the old town admired
man with crystal ball
2 back to watch the A-Team and 2 back
by Bicycle
That leaving Mark and Emma walking back
long the port wall
A still night sleeping soundly then all
breakfast on the port
We oggle passers by and then get on with
jobs to sort
Getting fuel it can be hairy
specially when there is a cue
But the Collins boys are on it -well now
tell me something new!
T'ward Pontinax we motor raising once the
coloured sail
A squall appears then jelly fish and for
mooring there we fail
The boys they sail, Nick makes cocktails
and Bernie does the meat
Victoria's sitting pretty and Em-ma
massages feet
Round to next bay -still felly jish
while swimming we must snork
Then G & T's and lots of wine with
marinated pork
Bernie starts the party with the sailing
costume bimbo
Photos, music, Smash FX and Emma
dances limbo
It must be said that Shabonee is quite a
dangerous cruise
One's almost surely guaranteed a quite
impressive bruise
Still dark awakes mid cabin and the
phosphorescence seen
But fear prevents us diving where the
jellies once have been
So cuddled up on deck we watch the
darkness start to wane
Back in bed soon after -it actually starts
to rain
With clouds around and wind quite strong
the jelly fish are lost
A snorkel clan goes out and a large
octopus Mark spots
The underwater camera gift's Victoria's
delight
All turquoise clad in such clear seas
gives really quite a sight
With scrambled egg-chorizo and yesterdays pork
to munch
Nick really did us proudly organising us
our brunch
And off we totter, sway and swing to my
last port of call
San Vincenté -one last night - it's really
been a ball!
To shore we go for steak, paella, hierbas
and rosé
The waiter's so good looking Mark
considers going gay!
And most go back but Mark and I have
business to be done
I must maintain my lead in our tournament
backgammon
It's Happy Birthday Nick at midnight
turning 39
But Neil's hell bent on early start so we
all tow the line
My last night rocking violently I hardly
get a wink
But resting there on Shabonee it gives me
time to think
......of 5 days past upon the sea,
adventuring on Shabonee
To Collins brothers and their crew -I've
none to say but a big
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
